Classes
All ballet classes are taught using the Russian Vaganova method. The dancenter offers classes for ages four through adults, with additional study in jazz and contemporary.
Placement First
The legacy KFortier structure begins with age bands, then grows into barre work, pointe preparation, contemporary, variations, and Ballet Apetrei company opportunities. Parents submit registration first so staff can confirm the correct level before tuition is activated.
Ages 4-5 are introduced to ballet technique and physical coordination as they learn basic positions, stretches, and steps through games and activities. Students also learn a ballet dance for the May recital.
Ages 5-8 gain a better understanding of ballet technique through slightly more advanced steps and exercises. Ages 7 and 8 begin to use the barre in ballet class and learn a ballet dance for the May recital.
Ages 9-11 continue ballet training with more advanced movement and preparation to begin pointe within the next couple of years. Students also learn a ballet dance for the May recital.
Ages 12 and above strengthen ballet technique and begin Pre-Pointe, Pointe, and Contemporary. Students learn ballet, pointe, and contemporary dances for the May recital if enrolled in those classes.
Ages 13 and above continue strengthening ballet, pointe, and contemporary technique. Dancers may audition for Ballet Apetrei and gain additional performance opportunities if accepted into the company.
How It Works
The class flow protects level progression and keeps parents from purchasing the wrong tuition plan before staff confirms the appropriate class path.
